Fans and High-Waisted Shorts
Monday, April 18, 2011
Hello there!
So on the days that I don't need to wear business attire, I am very excited to get dressed. So excited that I can't decide on what to wear. It's almost as if my whole entire closet opens up! Although it was very ironic that I finally decided on pieces that could be used in the office (i.e. collared shirt and slack like shorts)
I think that these are my first shorts of stylish nature and my favorite pair. Before this pair of shorts, my style was very plain. I loved shopping but I wouldn't necessarily buy the things I wanted because I thought that I wouldn't look good in them.I think the purchase of these shorts made me realize how much more fun clothes could be. And that I didn't need to be a certain "cool" to buy certain clothes. It doesn't matter as long as you like it and you think it looks good. My boyfriend bought them for me as a valentines day gift...so I guess I'll have to thank my now varied taste and appreciation in fashion to him. =)
I don't have that many accessories, but I really like the ones that I do own. This ring (the big one on the right int he picture) was one of those I got to have it moments-It was too pretty not to! Fans have always been such a pretty symbol for me because they remind me of one of my favorite books "Memoirs of a Geisha" by Arthur Golden. After reading this book I became obsessed with the history and culture of geishas. Coincidentally I found the simple silver fan ring ( the ring on the left in the picture) the day after I finished reading the book and told my dad that I had to have it. I wore it everyday for like a year, and then I decided to wear different rings. Recently during the last year I found it again and I decided to wear it again. From that time on I haven't taken it off since.
.
I have been obsessed with this bag since I found it my closet back at my home home. It's just the perfect size for all my things! It was my mom's when she was younger. Oh how I love shopping through her closet. =)
Button Up: H&M || Under Tank: Lucky Brand || Shorts: Buffalo Exchange || Big Fan ring: Banana Republic || Dooney and Bourke Bag: My mom's from 25 years ago
The last picture is a nice little reminder to breathe. Don't forget to breathe! Literally. Okay just kidding, you know I meant figuratively. Life's too short to be worried all the time. Revel in those sweet moments like a beautiful sunny day and time spent with family and friends. On this note I hope everyone starts off their week with a fantastic Monday! =)

Love that sheer blouse (I've been searching for the perfect one) and those lovely high waisted shorts! :) You look fantastic.
Oh man, so much to say, ok here we go:
1) memoirs of a geisha is one of my favorite books too! The movie didn't do it justice, but was still pretty good nonetheless.
2) I love how the big fan and small fan rings look together. They really complement each other.
3) adore that your military green shirt is sheer. Such a chic and versatile piece to own.
Phew. Ok, I think that's it. Love the post from you!

Oh right! One more thing... THE BAG IS AMAZING. I'm super jealous. It almost looks like one of those really expensive satchels from the Cambridge Satchel Company, but it was free! Whoo go moms.
I'm in love with your blouse - I never know how to wear sheer pieces and you do it so effortlessly! And you're right, it doesn't matter if you think a certain style is out of your reach - go right ahead and WORK IT. :)
I adore this outfit!! Really really nice!!

That bag is at least 25 years old?? WOW, your mom is really good at taking care of her things :) That bag look expensive and brand new, seriously!:)
I love the olive green + brown combination. Very safari chic and perfect for the Summer :)
Re: How long does it take for me comfortably walk in heels?
I'm still learning actually! Hahahaha :D My problem is always the arch. If the arch is low, 5 inch-heel (with platform of course) is no biggie. If the arch is high (and no platform), I won't be able to walk in them! :(
