About Us
We are two best friends (and roommates!) who have fallen in love with fashion. After being inspired by several fashion blogs, we've decided to think a little longer about what we put on in the morning. :P So join us as we keep calm & style on!
about erin
Hello, I'm Erin! I tend to land myself in awkward situations and I have a tendencey to say things that sound dirty...but really aren't. My family, friends, and boyfriend are a huge part of my life - if not for them I wouldn't exist (literally!). I love large puppies, hot drinks, sashimi, Disneyland, and anything having to do with love. I hope you enjoy my adventures!
about caroline
Hiya, I'm Caroline! I love
photography, Harry Potter, anything related to Disney/Disneyland, corgis, and baking. Most of all, I love my family, friends and boyfriend -- all of which will eventually appear in my posts. :) I'm simple, awkward and dorky - so prepare for that, haha. :D

Spring Break Project #1: Pillowcase Skirt
Wednesday, March 23, 2011
I made my very first article of clothing!!! As you all know, Erin and I are on Spring Break. This means that I get to play with my mom's sewing machine! Out of excitement, I made a list of projects:
- Make a skirt out of a pillowcase.
- Alter a thrifted dress.
- Refashion this dress into a skirt.
- Make a skirt out of extra fabric.
(Haha, I guess I really want skirts, huh?)
Here's an extra pillowcase that came with my bedding. Remember how I love purple? Well, this particular shade is my favorite! So I wanted to make a skirt out of it... because I liked the color. :P
So I examined one of my other skirts for a while a longgggg time, asked my mom to teach me how to thread the sewing machine and got to it! It went pretty okay for a while, but then somehow I managed to mess up the bobbin. :P After some troubleshooting by my mom, I was able to finish it! Here's what it turned out to look like:
Top: Present || Skirt: Made by me! || Cardigan: H&M | Heels: H&M
Since it is my first attempt at making clothes, it's far from perfect. The waist is uneven and the hemming is a bit off. But I'm still extremely satisfied with the outcome and I'm excited to use the sewing machine some more! Practice makes better, right? :D So expect my next couple of posts to be about my "spring break projects", haha. :)

LOVE X 100,000,000,000 X infinity. =)
My dear you are so talented and creative! By the time you get back, I will have spread the word of your talents and there will probably be people awaiting your services. I'm first on the list though. =)
But really, I'm so excited to see your finished projects. You are always inspiring me, first with the job and now with making things. =)
Love,
Erin
P.S. no worries..I miss you and everyone else too. =(
AH! Wow, that is so so cute, you'd never know it came from a pillowcase!
This is amazing. I'm amazed. You are amazing. Do I make myself clear?
Wow, who knew that skirt used to be a pillow case?? Well done! :)
Just stumbled upon your blog and am loving it.x
It looks AWESOME!
wish I could DIY my own skirt!
Oh wow! Thats such a beautiful skirt. I love the pleating in the front. And the color is great. Last summer I was determined to learn how to sew, but never got around to it. I have absolutely no sewing skills other than a stitch my mom showed me that I use for everything. Funny thing is, my grandma and mom used to be sewers and used to make their own clothes. I complain all the time to my mom that she's withholding secrets from me!
gorgeous love the lace top with the purple! and definitely incorporate knee highs i think they make everything look better!

the skirt turned out amazing! i love it- what a clever idea :)
Whoa, that just blew my mind! You are so crafty; I'm jealous. The skirt looks like something you would buy from Zara. I would love it if you did a tutorial for this once you get familiar with it some more.

You have inspired me to start sewing again this weekend! :) You look beautiful as ever. Cant get over this skirt..from a pillow case?! Genius. Have a wonderful rest of your Spring Break with your family!! xx

Such a cool idea! I never would have been able to tell it was a pillow case in a million years! I love the shade of purple too!

I LOVE purple! (My wedding 'colors' were just various purple shades! Haha.) But I'm extremely impressed at your pleating ability. Wow!
